Campus Facilities Coordinator
Job Summary
Sanford Behavioral Health is seeking a dependable, skilled, and proactive Facilities Operations Coordinator to help maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment across our behavioral healthcare campus.
This role is ideal for an experienced facilities professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities and takes pride in solving problems, maintaining high standards, and supporting a mission-driven organization.
The Facilities Operations Coordinator serves as a key resource for facility maintenance, preventative maintenance planning, vendor coordination, groundskeeping, safety inspections, basic repair work, and campus improvement projects. This individual works collaboratively with leadership and department teams to ensure facility needs are addressed efficiently, professionally, and cost-effectively.
The successful candidate is highly organized, mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and able to independently manage multiple priorities while contributing to a positive environment for both clients and staff.
Role and Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Perform routine building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, and general facility upkeep.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities to protect facility assets and minimize operational disruptions.
- Identify facility-related concerns proactively and recommend solutions before they become larger issues.
- Monitor building systems and ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with facility improvements, renovations, and special projects as assigned.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Serve as a liaison with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Obtain quotes, schedule work, and oversee completion of contracted services.
- Monitor quality of work and ensure projects are completed according to expectations and organizational standards.
- Help identify cost-effective facility solutions and opportunities for operational improvement.
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance
- Assist with campus grounds maintenance, landscaping, and seasonal property upkeep.
- Maintain sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and outdoor spaces in a safe and professional condition.
- Perform snow and ice removal responsibilities during winter weather events.
- Support beautification efforts through landscaping and property improvement projects.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify hazards, safety concerns, or maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety standards, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and required documentation.
- Support emergency preparedness activities and facility readiness initiatives.
Team Collaboration
- Partner with leaders and departments to prioritize facility-related needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal staff, clients, and visitors.
- Participate in meetings, organizational trainings, and ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, construction, property maintenance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair practices.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Trade school training, technical certification, or vocational education.
- Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, hospitality, education, or multi-site facilities.
- Experience coordinating outside vendors and contractors.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and facility safety requirements.

- Ability to coordinate vendors and contractors effectively.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic maintenance documentation systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, and perform physical work throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds with assistance when necessary.
- Ability to safely use maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access mechanical areas as necessary.
- Ability to respond to urgent facility issues as needed.
